About us

Connectmedical Services was founded by Dr Don Grant & Dr Geoff Hogg in January 2000. Both are experienced General Practitioners, having worked in both the NHS and Private Health sectors. As GPs and individuals we feel that there are limits to what Doctors can and should do and often alternatives to medication. We feel that a commonsense approach to Health issues is best and aim to satisfy that need through our site.

Connectmedical Services provides practically useful information in a way that can easily be understood. As Practising GP’s we try to avoid putting any advice up on our site which we would not be happy to impart in person.Information and advice on specific conditions can be found in the Self-Help section along with useful telephone numbers and websites.

We provide Medico-legal reports for Solicitors and advice for those who may have been injured and wish to bring a claim. Also on our legal pages is legal information relevant to health matters such as making a living will (advanced directive) to guard against excessive medical treatment or to ensure treatment is not withheld. Both Private and NHS sectors have their strengths and weaknesses. We aim to provide accurate quality information to facilitate the access of appropriate care. We have concentrated on the independent sector and have sought to keep some information relevant to the Bristol area . We recognise the growing influence of professions allied to medicine and of complementary medicine. You can find a Medical Consultant or Complementary Practitioner in our listings.

The two guiding commandments of my medical career have been

• Do not strive officiously

• Above all do no Harm

As medical interventions are more readily available it is inevitable that patients will question their Doctors as to the value of treatments. In an increasingly interventionist profession it is more important than ever that the two principles above be observed.

I hope that these pages will help patients get a fuller understanding of the conditions their Doctors are treating them for and help them to exercise greater choice and personal responsibility when making decisions about their healthcare.
