Neurosurgeons treat surgically diseases of the nervous system, such as brain tumours. They also perform surgical procedures to help with the management of conditions such as Parkinsons disease, hydrocephalus and nerve tumours such as acoustic neuroma. Neurosurgeons can help with certain spinal conditions by using techniques such as  micro-disc surgery. They hold the FRCS but will have done further specialist training.
